Master the Rink Board: Command Palette and Keyboard Shortcuts
Learn the fastest ways to navigate the rink board — from the Ctrl+Shift+P command palette to every keyboard shortcut for drawing, editing, and managing panels.
Power users don't click through menus. They type what they want and it happens. The Forecheck Hockey rink board now has a command palette and a full set of keyboard shortcuts that let you work at the speed of thought.
The Command Palette
Press Ctrl+Shift+P from anywhere in the rink board — even inside a form field. A search overlay appears with every action in the app.
Start typing:
- "export" — finds PNG, PDF, Video, JSON, Game Summary, Backup
- "5v5" — loads the 5v5 preset formation
- "scoreboard" — toggles the Scoreboard panel
- "whistle" — plays the whistle sound
- "fullscreen" — enters fullscreen mode
- "zoom fit" — zooms the canvas to fit available space
Use arrow keys to navigate the list, Enter to execute, Escape to close. Over 55 actions are indexed across 10 categories: Panels, Score, Draw, Edit, View, Setup, Export, Shifts, Sound, and DJ.
The command palette is the fastest way to do anything. Even if you forget where a button is, you can always find it here.
Drawing Tool Shortcuts
These single-key shortcuts activate drawing tools instantly — no menu needed:

After pressing a key, your cursor changes to a crosshair and you can draw immediately. Press V to go back to select mode.

Press once to open, press again to close. These work from anywhere — you don't need to click the Panels menu first.

You can also zoom with the mouse wheel on the canvas.
Workflow: Design a Drill in 30 Seconds
- Press Alt+4 to open the drill library
- Search for a drill, click Load
- Press A to switch to arrow tool
- Draw passing lanes
- Press D to switch to dashed arrows
- Draw skating routes
- Press T to add text labels
- Press V to switch back to select mode
- Click the save icon to save the board
No menus opened. No flyouts clicked. Just keyboard flow.
Workflow: Quick Score Update
- Press Ctrl+Shift+P
- Type "goal home" → press Enter
- Score incremented, horn plays
Or open the scoring log:
- Press Alt+2 (Scorekeeping panel)
- Click "+ Goal"
- Type the scorer's name (datalist suggests from roster)
- Press Enter to log
Memorize These Five
If you remember nothing else:
- Ctrl+Shift+P — find any action
- V — select mode
- Alt+1 — scoreboard
- Ctrl+Z — undo
- Esc — close whatever is open
